We offer Sunday School from September through May. Sunday School starts at 9:00am.
There are regular classes for children ages 3-12, Catechism and Sr. High School class for kids in 6th grade or higher, as well as one or two classes for all adults (members and visitors are heartily welcomed).
There is a nursery available for children up to 3 years old.
Our current (Fall 2013) adult Sunday School classes focus on the book of Isaiah and on our understanding of the Holy Spirit. You are heartily invited to join us.
We believe that the job of the church, given to us through the Great Commission, is twofold: preach the gospel and disciple believers (cf. Matthew 28:19-20). Sunday School classes are a part of discipling. There is no age at which people should not be discipled – discipling is a lifelong need. The church does not take the place of the family in this practice. Families should be living in the Word, and parents should be teaching children about God and His Word, and encouraging children in their relationship to God through prayer and godly counsel. Churches, through Sunday School, should be upholding the doctrines, and encouraging the Christian walk. When children hear symmetry between their parents’ teaching and the Church’s discipleship, it serves to strengthen their faith.
Reformers in the past have also insisted on providing teaching to children of the church at all ages – John Calvin was one of the first to recognize the need and to build a ‘curriculum’ for children of the church.
The children’s Sunday School classes are taught by men and women of the church. Part of their lesson time is spent with music and singing. Like our worship, this time is reverential, and focused on God.
All Sunday School classes are taught under the oversight of the elders of Redeemer Reformed Church.
