Sunday School & Catechism

We offer Sunday School classes from September through May. The last day of Sunday School is May 19th.

Sunday School classes start at 9am before the 10:15am morning service.

Every year, we collect an offering during the Sunday School hour. This year’s offering recipient is FFHM Children’s Home.

Classes

Age 3 - Grade 12

Children age 3 and up are taught age-appropriate curriculum, with younger ages also participating in a time of music and singing.  The classes are taught by men and women members of the church under the oversight of the church Elders. Like our worship, this time is reverential, and focused on God.

Catechism

Grades 7-9 are taught the Heidelberg Catechism, which we believe to be a faithful summary of the Scriptures. Through careful instruction in the doctrines and duties of the Christian faith, these children are prepared for a public profession of their faith.

Adults

Adult Sunday School meets weekly at the same time as children’s Sunday School. Check back for information about the Adult Sunday School class.

Nursery is provided for ages 1 and under during this time.

Goals

Sunday School is provided to assist Christians as they raise their children in the training and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Historically, Reformed christians have insisted on providing Christian education to children of the church at all ages. John Calvin was one of the first to recognize this need and to build a curriculum.
